"Fragments"
Ceramic on Panel by Elizabeth MacDonald

Elizabeth MacDonald continues to explore the landscape through a matrix of irregular tiles on a grid. Monumental scale  and panoramic imagery becomes central to this exhibition along with smaller scale explorations both of landscape and abstract organic forms as seen in her ‘White’ series. MacDonald’s recent work has integrated her ongoing interest in traditional painting combined with her trademark dry pigment ceramic technique inspired from ancient walls that she has photographed and documented worldwide. MacDonald also continues her ongoing interest in public art  and has recently completed an installation at the new Smilow cancer center at Yale University in New Haven.

"Outrigger Series"
Painted Birch sculpture by Robert Gregson

In the installation space, Robert Gregson’s installation of aluminum and painted wood sculptures are composed of intricate elements that emphasis structure and imagery,. These works immediately invite the viewer to participate in Gregson’s ‘act of creation’ by allowing the viewer to alter the work through movable elements.
Gregson states, “My work tends to be a social activity. It exists in the ambiguous territory between artist and audience. The pieces are invitations that provide permission to be involved. For me, the act of creation is a balancing act between autonomy and connectedness. Like a performance, I enjoy the idea that the work is never actually completed but continually reinterpreted and refreshed through those who encounter it.”
